Please read
the following guidelines completely before submitting your work.
The Writer's Eye Magazine supports both new and established writer-artists.
We are committed to celebrating artistic passion and expression, particularly for those who integrate visual and written arts.
We are accepting submissions for the following work:
|
|
We are looking for quality, literary fiction and flash fiction, from 50
to 3,000 words in length.
|
|
|
We are looking for non-fiction in two categories: - personal articles about the creative process. How do you integrate life and art, particularly more than one art form?
How do you handle the business end of your work? Share your experience with our other readers.
- Creative nonfiction, including memoirs and personal essays with accompanying artwork.

PHOTO ESSAYS
|
We are interested in receiving photo essays. These can be non-fiction,
fiction, and/or poetry-oriented. Generally, a photo essay will contain a minimum of five (5) photos, accompanied by text,
that tell a story, real or imagined. Feel free to query if you are uncertain about interest.
|
|
|
We are open to diverse forms of poetry. There are no length restrictions,
and you do not need to query prior to submitting.
|
|
|
We are seeking reviews of books, collections, and articles by writer-artists.
By this, we mean that the books should contain art and be written and illustrated by the same artist/author.
|
ALL submissions (except book reviews) must be accompanied by an attachment of a visual
art form, ORIGINAL and
created by the author, that is related to and complements the written work.
We will not respond to submissions
that do not include digital representations of original visual art created by the author, unless approved by previous query.
Queries
are unnecessary and submissions of writing are accepted only via our submission form (link to form is at bottom below
- read this entire page before submitting). Submissions of accompanying artwork/photographs are accepted via email only at
this time.
The Writer's Eye Magazine does not accept previously published work. We do accept simultaneous submissions.
Please let us know if this is the case and inform us immediately if your work is accepted for publication elsewhere.
SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION DEADLINES: We receive and publish submissions on an ongoing
basis.
The Writer's Eye Magazine asks for first rights to any piece selected. At the time of publication, all rights revert back
to the author/artist. The Writer's Eye Magazine retains the right to publish the piece(s) and accompanying artwork in any
subsequent issue or anthology, whether in print or online, without additional payment. If your work is republished elsewhere,
we ask that you cite The Writer's Eye Magazine as a place of first publication and provide The Writer's Eye Magazine's web
address.
We do our best to respond to submissions in 6 weeks. All questions pertaining to submissions should be addressed to the editor
at editor@thewriterseyemagazine.com.
PAYMENT: Although we believe
that the work of all writer/artists is a valuable and important contribution, not only to this magazine but to society as
a whole, we are unable to offer payment for work submitted at this time. What we can offer is publication credits, links to
your websites, encouragement and recognition of your work.
If
you wish to have the opportunity to receive payment for your work, we encourage you to enter our ongoing Writer/Artist
Contest. Winning writer/artists will be featured on our home page, as well as be awarded cash prizes.
If you enter the
Writer/Artist Contest and your work is not selected as a winning entry, you may choose (on the entry form), for your
work to be placed in the queue for possible publication as a non-paid entry. See the CONTEST Information Page for information about prizes and awards.
