HOW IT WORKS:
The Writer’s Eye magazine is about how art and literature inform and inspire each other. Along those lines, we have
designed a contest for artist/writers.
Using one of the following prompts for inspiration (scroll to bottom of page to see prompts), write a fiction or nonfiction
story (maximum of 3,000 words) or poem AND create an inspiration-related photograph, painting, sculpture, drawing, or other
visual art form. Your work may be broadly inspired by the prompt and does not need to include the text of the prompt to qualify.
Enter your own work only. All contest submissions are by email. One entry per email, please.
All written work (stories & poems) must be submitted in the body of the email only, NOT as an attachment. Stories
should be single spaced with a space between paragraphs. Poetry may be single or double spaced.
Art must be submitted as an email attachment in JPEG format, no smaller than 300 x 300 pixels and no larger than approximately
600 x 800 pixels.
Email and subject line instructions are listed below, with contest categories. For all categories - At the top, in the body
of your email, type your name, mailing address, phone number, and the text of the inspiration prompt you selected.
You may send multiple entries to any contest but each entry requires an entry fee. Entries should be previously unpublished
when entered. Cash winners only are notified by email.
Payment of entry fees must be made before sending entries.

Inspiration Prompts
1) Who am I?
2) You are walking on a path in a wooded area, when you notice something shiny on the ground. It looks like a large penny.
You pick it up, dust it off, and read the inscription: "One wish, one power." What do you do? And what happens next?
3) You can't fall asleep. One thought, one image keeps grinding over and over, like a rock tumbling in your mind. You know
you won't get to sleep until you put that image on paper. But something over which you have no control stops you.
4) Change
5) A friend of yours has adopted a policy of brutal honesty. What he tells you changes your way of seeing the world. Now it's
up to you.
6) Clothes make the person.
7) Everything flows
